St Kilda Mast - Scotland
> Back
QinetiQ (mast operators for Ministry of Defence) wished to retro fit a reliable and compliant vertical fall arrest system to the 85m guyed mast on the remote island of St. Kilda, some 60 miles off the west coast of Scotland.
Uniline were contacted and helped to design the system to mitigate against the severe weather conditions on site (marine salt environment, 100mph winds).
The ladders of the mast were fitted with rung mounted, all stainless steel Easyclimber systems.
The Monkey travelling devices were fitted with integral energy absorbing units.
A Uniline team member attended site to demonstrate the installed system to the end users.
QinetiQ were very impressed with the speed and ease of the installation, which was carried out with two days, by a two man team.
Once shown how to use the EasyClimber the end users commented as to the simplicity of operation and how smoothly the Monkey device passed the intermediate brackets.
