Roof anchors and working at height safety - Uniline Secret Fix

The design of the roof anchor is neat and unobtrusive, limiting any visual impact to the building. Roof anchors are constructed from high grade alloy and can be colour coated to match the roof finish.

Aluminium used to construct the roof anchors provides excellent future potential for recycling, uses sustainable resources in the production process and has a high level of corrosion resistance. In addition customers benefit from reduced freight charges as consignments of these roof anchors are lighter then other products and the roof anchors are easier to handle during installation works.

This roof anchor can be used on the following roof constructions:

  • Aluminium up to 500mm profiles. 0.7mm material gauge
  • Steel up to 500mm profiles. 0.42mm material gauge

Roof sheets should be non-fragile and validated as suitable
for installation through testing or calculation.

Roof Anchor Installation

fixings for roof anchors

The roof anchors are easily fitted from the top of the roof structure using minimal penetrations. A series of bulb-tite rivets secure a bearer (bespoke to each individual roof type) to the profile of the roof sheet and the roof anchor is secured to the bearer with discreet M8 stainless steel fasteners or rivets. The number and type of fasteners have been calculated to counter the overturning moment applied by the roof anchor in the first stage of activation and resist the shear load in the second stage of activation when the energy absorber deploys.

The fasteners and anchor are self-sealing having a waterproof washer beneath their head and butyl sealing tape between the bearer and the roof sheet, which provides a complete watertight seal. The butyl tape also acts to isolate the roof anchor from the roof sheet.

Structural Validation For Roof Anchors

Roof anchors can only be installed on roof systems that have been validated as capable of supporting the distributed loads applied in the event of a fall. Uniline offer alternative solutions for roofs which are not suitable for roof anchors.

This predictable distributed load can be used to validate the roof systems suitability for use as a structural anchor and is typically less than 1kN/sq.m.
