Wings ‘not’ required by maintenance personnel
Capital Safety and their partner BEMO USA from Phoenix, Arizona have supplied and installed permanent roof safety systems to a new $1.2 billion terminal project at Sacramento Airport.
International design firm, Fentress Architects of California, USA, who are world renowned for their iconic public architecture specified Bemo’s roof system and Capital’s safety systems for the project.
The Capital systems ensure compliance with Cal-OSHA Regulations and enable continuous hands free access to all required areas of maintenance, preventing personnel from being exposed to fall hazards and work at height risks. Bemo’s team, supported by Capital personnel installed the Standing Seam Roof Anchors and Cable Safety Systems from Capital’s RoofSafe® product range, allowing building maintenance staff to carry out essential cleaning and repair works in the future to an array of roof mounted plant and equipment, including roof lights, vents, gutters and signage.
The RoofSafe Anchors, which are designed to absorb the energy that would be created in the event of a fall on the safety system, were fitted using non-penetrative clamps allowing the integrity of the roof structure to be preserved, whilst still providing comprehensive safety coverage.
Working with Bemo, Capital provided direct support to Fentress to ensure the system design layouts met with all future maintenance requirements for the buildings and that supporting technical information was provided to meet engineering approval and permit engineer sign off.
Capital provided calculations and test data for the system designs to ensure OSHA compliance and that in the event of a fall on the systems, the forces were within tolerable limits of the roof system.
The Capital RoofSafe Systems are tested and approved by Bemo for installation on their roof system. Additionally the systems are tested to BS EN795:1997, ACR[M] 002 2009 Testing of Roof Anchors on Roof Systems and are CE Marked to the European PPE Directive.
The systems also comply with OSHA & ANSI safety requirements. Specification details are available via RIBA Product Selector/NBS which can be accessed via the Architects area on Capital’s web site. Alternatively, please contact Capital directly with your enquiry.
