RoofSafe Roof Anchors for PVC Membrane Roof Systems

RoofSafe Anchors for PVC Membrane Roof Systems

The design of the roof anchor is neat and unobtrusive, limiting any visual impact on the building. Roof anchors are constructed from high grade alloy and are anodised for long term corrosion resistance. In addition, the pre- engineered weather proof cover is coated with an approved PVC solution to enable the roofing contractor to directly weld the PVC roof membrane to the anchor for speed of installation. The use of this product simplifies the waterproofing process and ensures the roof anchor has long term resistance to water ingress. This roof anchor product was designed with support from roofing manufacturers to meet with the requirements of their guarantees.

Only approved waterproofing details should be used and detailing work must be carried out by an authorised roofing contractor. Base plates for the roof anchors are flat to make sealing easier and have recessed fixing points to protect the roof membrane from becoming damaged.

Roof anchors stand 150mm above the roof surface, complying with industry standards for waterproofing.

This roof anchor can be used on the following roof constructions:

  • Concrete
  • Hollow concrete
  • Metal Deck
  • Plywood

Installation

The roof anchors can be fitted to metal decking, plywood or concrete roof constructions from the top of the roof using M8 toggle clamps, mechanical fixings or stud, provided with anti-compression and thermal spacers. The length of the toggle bolt can be increased to allow for use in constructions with deep insulation.

The number and size of the toggle clamps/stud have been calculated to counter the overturning moment applied by the roof anchor in the first stage of activation and resist the shear load in the second stage of activation when the energy absorber deploys.

Structural Validation

Roof anchors can only be installed on roof systems that have been validated as capable of supporting the distributed loads applied in the event of a fall. Capital offer alternative solutions for roofs which are not suitable for roof anchors.

This predictable distributed load can be used to validate the roof systems suitability for use as a structural anchor. In the case of built up flat roofing systems, the distributed load can vary depending upon the depth of the insulation and can range from 0.5kNm to 2.2kNm where insulation is 300mm deep.

Typical Installation Detail

The roof anchors are used for integrating Capital’s Roofsafe Cable fall protection systems into your building, thereby facilitating safe access. The anchors are modular in design and facilitate the installation of End Anchors , Corner Anchors , Variable Anchors  and Intermediate Anchors  to support the installation and use of a  a continuous handsfree Roofsafe horizontal lifeline system.  Anchors may also be used as a single point anchor for 1 person or 2 persons.  (EN795 Class A2) For further information, please contact Capital’s Technical Department.

Green Roof Systems and Roof Anchors

Use of Capital’s pre-engineered weather proofing detail enables the roof anchor to be used in conjunction with Green Roofing Systems. The sedum element of the roof construction can be installed around the roof anchor without any fear of water penetration through the sealing detail.

Performance & Guarantee

RoofSafe Roof Anchors for PVC Membrane Roof Systems are tested to exceed the standards of EN795, are CE marked and come with a 10 year guarantee for performance and corrosion resistance. (Subject to terms and conditions).
